I've been trying to figure out some way to use IdeaTorrent for some time now, and the sticking point is always PostgreSQL 8.3. I've even found some companies that offer older versions of PostgreSQL (8.1 for instance). I really hope something can be done to improve this situation, as IdeaTorrent is really the best option for this type of collaboration software.

I would like to use IdeaTorrent for collaboration in a website, but no mySQL support.

Thus, it is very difficult to give an accurate comparison in performance without paying attention to configuration and environment. But here is a comparison of MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, offered not for the sake of voicing my opinion, but to help you make your own decision. If you do a fair comparison that includes software licensing costs, 117-101 questions, the performance per dollar figures for both PostgreSQL and MySQL, then you will get MySQL is faster and easier to use than PostgreSQL. If you search on 117-102 questions, you would get all this through experience. 156-215 questions also may prove helpful in this situation.

Agree that the majority including ME need MySQL. One potential solution....if there is at least an ISO or a VirtualBox image of a complete environment then the pain of getting going could be less. Maybe talk with JumpBox?

That could placate me in the short term.
